Indigenous Guernsey
This guernsey was designed in collaboration with St Kilda Football Club player Ben Long and his sister Emily Long. The guernsey design featuring Emily’s hand-drawn totems, represents the history of the Long family and their people, with the front design representing the Long family’s paternal grandfather’s ancestors and the back representing the family’s paternal grandmother’s ancestors.
This design process required a high level of cultural awareness and respect, both for Indigenous culture and the Long family’s personal history. I managed this project, ensuring the design was completed to the correct specifications and highest possible standard within extremely tight production deadlines. It required consistent consultation with the Long family as well as external apparel producers, suppliers and the internal merchandise department.
